Ways to help pay for care in Massachusetts
Most families here pay privately, but not all of them have to pay for all of it.
Long-term care insurance
Many policies cover non-medical home care. Tell us your carrier and we will tell you exactly what documentation they need from us.
Veterans benefits
Some wartime veterans and surviving spouses qualify for help with home care costs. Start with MassOptions at 1-800-243-4636, who can point you to a veterans service officer.
MassHealth

Medicare
Does not cover non-medical home care. It may cover skilled home health after a qualifying hospital stay, which is a different service from a different kind of agency.
