Who comes to the door, and how they got here
Every Kinstead caregiver is our employee, not a contractor we introduced you to. We hire them, train them, insure them, pay their taxes and supervise their work.
Before a first shift
The checks we run
Screening
- Massachusetts CORI criminal record check
- National multi-state background check
- Identity and right-to-work verification
- Reference checks with previous care employers
- In-person interview with the owner
Employment and cover
- W-2 employees of Kinstead Home Care LLC
- Bonded and insured, with workers' compensation carried by us
- Payroll, taxes and scheduling handled by the office, never by you
- Supervised by the owner, with visit notes reviewed
- Training and certifications kept on file and reviewed by the owner
Matching
The same caregiver, on purpose
We match on the practical things first: the hours, the town, whether there are stairs, whether there is a dog, whether the household would rather have someone quiet or someone chatty.
Then we keep that person there. Consistency is most of what makes home care work, and it is the thing families notice first when it goes missing.
If the match is wrong, we change it
Fit matters more than credentials. If a caregiver isn't right for your parent — for any reason, including one you'd rather not explain — tell us and we'll change the match within 24 hours. No awkwardness and no explanation needed. A mismatch is a scheduling problem, not anyone's fault.
What they may and may not do
Boundaries we keep
Caregivers follow the schedule the doctor set, notice when something looks different, and report it the same day. Kinstead does not manage medications.
They do not perform nursing, therapy, wound care, injections or medication administration. They do not do two-person or mechanical-lift transfers, and they do not feed anyone with a swallowing risk.
